Murder rap for ex-con in Brooklyn beating death

An ex-con is accused of pummeling a man to death in his Brooklyn apartment last month, police said.

Leonard Barber, 35, was busted Thursday afternoon, charged with murdering 65-year-old Mack Wilson in his single-room apartment on Monroe St. by Malcolm X. Blvd on March 1, cops said.

Two men paid Wilson a visit and assaulted him the day before and he went to sleep without getting medical help.

At 1 a.m. on March 1, Wilson’s girlfriend found him unresponsive in bed. He was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he died.

One of Wilson’s assailants was related to him, though they wouldn’t say Thursday if Barber or the other man — who is still at large — is the victim’s kin.

Barber has 27 arrests on his record — including charges he robbed and attacked an undercover cop in 2002, police sources said.

He served prison time for weapon possession in 2003.
